EVM's story began during the college years of founders Gabe Elias and LJ Van Molle. While attending Bridgewater State University and Fitchburg State University, they joined an entrepreneurial internship program through Young Entrepreneurs Across America (YEAA), where they learned firsthand what it takes to build and operate a successful business.
Through the program, Gabe and LJ weren't simply painting homes. They were generating leads, meeting with property owners, creating estimates, managing crews, and delivering exceptional customer service. Their dedication and work ethic quickly set them apart, helping them break company sales and production records while developing the business skills that would later become the foundation of EVM.
After successfully running painting operations and gaining real-world experience, Gabe and LJ decided to build something of their own. They founded EVM with a simple goal: provide property owners with exceptional craftsmanship, honest communication, and an unmatched customer experience.
As the company grew, Gabe's father, Durval Elias, joined the team, bringing over 20 years of construction and remodeling experience. His expertise helped expand EVM from a painting company into a full-service home improvement and general contracting business.
Today, EVM proudly serves property owners throughout New England, completing thousands of projects every year across painting, remodeling, decking, & carpentry. While we've grown tremendously since our college days, our mission remains the same: deliver exceptional work, communicate honestly, and treat every customer's property as if it were our own.

Founder, Co-Owner & CEO
Gabe co-founded EVM after discovering his passion for entrepreneurship through a college internship with Student Painters while attending Bridgewater State University. What started as an opportunity to learn the painting industry quickly became a hands-on education in business, sales, leadership, and project management. After gaining valuable experience and helping build successful painting operations, Gabe partnered with LJ to launch EVM with a focus on quality workmanship, honest communication, and exceptional customer service.
Today, Gabe oversees company operations, business development, and customer relations while helping drive EVM's continued growth and long-term vision.
Co-Owner & Project Manager
LJ joined Gabe through a college internship while attending Fitchburg State University, where he quickly developed a passion for both the painting industry and entrepreneurship. After gaining hands-on experience in project management, customer service, and operations, he partnered with Gabe to co-found EVM and help grow it into the company it is today.
As Project Manager, LJ coordinates projects from start to finish, working closely with customers and crews to ensure quality, efficiency, and a smooth experience. His attention to detail, leadership skills, and commitment to customer satisfaction help set EVM apart.
Lead Construction Supervisor & Foreman
With over 20 years of construction and remodeling experience, Durval brings extensive knowledge and craftsmanship to every project. As Lead Foreman, he oversees field operations, manages crews, and ensures all work meets EVM's high standards for quality and professionalism. His experience and craftsmanship skills are a key part of every successful project.
Durval is also Gabe’s father and the driving force behind EVM’s construction division. His selfless attitude, relentless work ethic, and willingness to always put the team first have helped shape the company into what it is today. Without his leadership, experience, and dedication, EVM simply would not have the construction division it has today.
